Vucic: We will not go to War with Bosniaks, we will preserve Peace at any Cost

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on Friday in Belgrade that his country will not go to war with Bosniaks or anyone and that it will not “fall for provocations”.

At the press conference, Vučić referred to the address of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, who yesterday in Potočari expressed his respect for the victims and pointed out the dangers that threaten Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bećirović said that “the balance of power, the historical context of the nineties and today are not the same, but there are numerous similarities.”

“It is up to us to answer the question of whether there are similarities between the situation in the early 1990s and today. Convicted war criminal Radovan Karadžić and his associates said in 1992 that Bosnia and Herzegovina was an impossible state. Today, the leaders of the BiH entity of the RS are saying it again. Great Serbian protagonists said publicly that their goal was a greater Serbia, despite the fact that aggression, genocide, crimes against humanity and other crimes were committed because of that dangerous project.

On this occasion, Vučić said that in the past 12 years at the head of Serbia, he has continuously called for respect for the territorial integrity of BiH and the Dayton Peace Agreement.

“That ‘big state policy’ in Belgrade is based on the fact that every time in the previous 12 years we have recognized and recognized the territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but we also understand the Dayton Peace Agreement and the integrity of Republika Srpska within Bosnia and Herzegovina. What bothered you there? You have never heard any other statement from me,” said Vučić.

He added that for 12 years he “heard that he killed someone with a sniper around Sarajevo” and asserted that he “never held a sniper in his hand.”

“Neither with a sniper, nor with a rifle, nor did he kill anyone, anything, anywhere, nor did he shoot in this or that way,” said Vučić.

He said that Serbia will not go to war with anyone and will do everything to avoid it.

“I tell you openly, we will not go to war against you. You can do what you want, you can invent, you can provoke as much as you want, we will not go to war against you. We will not go to war against Bosniaks. And that is my message to both Bosniaks in Serbia and Bosniaks in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We will do our best to avoid that, I hope they will not think of abolishing the Republika Srpska and killing the Serbian people, we will not fall for their provocations,” said Vučić.

He added that Serbia will keep the peace because “too many terrible things were happening” and that there were victims from all sides.

“We will keep the peace, because these are too terrible things and this, and everything that the mothers of Srebrenica and everyone else went through. Things too terrible to allow ourselves to happen again. And that’s why we will keep the peace at all costs,” said Vučić.

He also said that he will not give in under pressure due to the adoption of the resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica and that he is “proud to have stood up” and shown that “great powers cannot change the truth”.

He said that they have the closest relations with Bosniaks in Serbia and that his government pays attention to the economy in that part of Serbia.

“We will continue to do our job, to keep the peace, we will not participate in provocations of any kind, we will not go to war with anyone,” said Vučić, Anadolu Agency writes.
