Vulin Claims EU Has Not Imposed Sanctions on Him After All

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin said that the European Union had failed to impose sanctions on him.

He had previously told Russian media that the EU had imposed sanctions on him, but later announced that Hungary and Slovakia had vetoed the decision.
Vulin said that they wanted to make the decision on sanctions at a meeting of EU foreign ministers, and that Croatia was the first to support it.

“However, since decisions are made by consensus, they could not do that,” Vulin said.

He assessed that the sanctions were a reaction to his speech in Brussels a few days ago, where he said “the clear truth that Serbia does not need to prove itself to the EU, but that the EU needs to prove itself to Serbia.”
