On Saturday, at 6 PM, the National football team of BiH will play a decisive match in the qualifications for the World Cup in Russia. The opponent is the National team of Belgium who already won the finals in the World Cup.

Fans of football in BiH are familiar with matches that our national team and Belgium played, but club duels were a lot more common. Considering the period of the former Yugoslavia, clubs from BiH and Belgium played seven duels (not counting Intertoto Cup).

It is interesting to recall the first BiH-Belgium match that was played 47 years ago.

Then, in the first round of the Cup of Fair Cities (the forerunner of the UEFA Cup) played Zeljeznicar and Anderlecht. The first match was played at Kosevo Stadium on September 2, 1970, in front of about 5,000 spectators, and it was much more than dramatic.

Our team played in the composition: Radovic, Becirspahic, Bratic, Hrvat, Katalinski, Kadric, Spreco, Osim, Bukal, Mujkic and Bajic (Jankovic). In the 4th minute, Ivica scored against the goalkeeper Anderlecht Colasse, but Wilfried Puis scored as well before the break.

In the continuation of the match, a real drama happened. Three goals were scored in three minutes: 2: 1 Spreco (58); 3: 1 Mujkic (59); 3: 2 Mulder (60). Wilfried Puis (82) and Reserve Gilbert Van Bimst (89) made a turn for the win of Anderlecht with 3: 4 in the last 10 minutes.

The match in Brussels did not need the extra time because Swedish player Inge Ejderstedt scored two goals for the victory of Anderlecht 5: 4 and the total score 9: 7!
