12987998_1757597051143638_863580287_nMelika Mahmutbegovic, Vice President of the FBiH, said yesterday in Ahmici that crime that was committed 23 years ago in this village should not be forgotten, but it is necessary to build bridges of peace for the benefit of future generations.

“We are here to express our respect to all those who lost their lives. The message to future generations is that these events must not be forgotten, but we have to focus on the future and, together with our neighbors, no matter what happened, to find common paths and build bridges of peace,” said Mahmutbegovic, who took part in marking of the anniversary of the crime in Ahmici, where soldiers of HVO killed 116 people on the 16th of April 1993.

Anniversary in Ahmici was marked with religious rituals and by laying wreaths at the memorial, and from the Association “April 16,” repeated again that bodies of 30 victims have not been found yet.

It was also emphasized that villagers of Ahmici are not satisfied with the prosecution of those who are responsible for the crime, because, besides commanders, only two direct executors ended up before the court.

Besides families of the victims, representatives of political and religious life in BiH also attended marking of the 23rd anniversary of crimes committed in Ahmici.
