The Italian Embassy in Sarajevo announced the traditional Week of Italian Film and Language within the Fifth Season of Italian Culture in BiH.

According to the current Season of Culture in 2017, the initiative will be held in several cities in BiH in cooperation with different centers and cities, as well as with numerous partners and local institutions.

When it comes to the film program, the center of the program will be in the capital city of Sarajevo, where five projections of award-winning Italian films will be released from November 21 to 25, 2017, in the Cinema Meeting Point. The mentioned films came out this year, and they include “Indivisibili”, a touching story about two siam twins; “Veloce come il vento”, a passionate film about sport and events in a family that has been producing racing cars for years; ” L’Uomo che non cambiò la Storia ” a fascinating documentary about the anti-fascist professor who has the responsibility to organize a cultural program on the occasion of Hitler’s visit to Italy in 1938; “Fiore”, a drama about the impossible love between two young prisoners in jail for juveniles and “Piuma” an intelligent comedy about the phenomenon of teen parenting.

With the aim to allow access to this year’s film offer to the wider BH audience, the projections of the aforementioned and other famous Italian films will be organized in other cities as well, including “Lo chiamavano Jeeg Robot” in Banja Luka (November 20 and 21) Tuzla (November 22 and 27), Mostar (November 23) and Visegrad (November 24 and 25).

Considering that the topic of the edition of the Week of Italian Language in the world in 2017 is “Italian in Cinema, Italian on Film”, the Embassy decided to merge two events by organizing lectio magistralis about cinematography at the University of Banja Luka and Sarajevo before the beginning of the aforementioned projections on November 20 and 21. Prof. Paolo Minuto will be a lecturer, and he works as a lecturer of the history of Italian film at the University for Foreigners in Reggio Calabria. Ambassador of Italy to BiH Nicola Minasi will meet with students from the University of Mostar before the screening of the film that is planned for November 23, 2017, in Mostar.

As the perfect end of the Week and the entire edition of this Season of Culture, the Embassy organized a concert of the Orchestra Internazionale Italiana Ensemble on November 28 at the House of Armed Forces in Sarajevo, which will combine the composition of baroque music with the film music, whose authors are Italian composers. The orchestra will give to Sarajevo a world premiere of one piece that was composed only for this occasion.
