The incumbent Member of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) Presidency Mladen Ivanic announced his candidacy for another term at the upcoming general elections on Monday in Banja Luka, a city 190 kilometers northwest of the capital Sarajevo.

During the meeting, representatives of 10 parties in Republika Srpska (RS), one of the entities in BiH, signed the Agreement on Principles of Joint Action, presenting Ivanic as a candidate for BiH Presidency in front of Parties of Alliance for Change.

During his speech, Ivanic was confident of winning the upcoming elections and his second term as a member of BiH Presidency, emphasizing that Republika Srpska needs normal life and development. “Republika Srpska needs a normal life, a better perspective for young people, more care for families, development, security, rather than insecurity and uncertainty,”Ivanic said.

He continued by saying that Alliance for Change has achieved good results, defended the position of RS, and continued to offer stable perspective for RS citizens. Ivanic concluded his speech by saying that “this is the battle of people in RS, for their own dignity, and we can only win this battle together with citizens.”

Mladen Ivanic, 60, has been engaged in politics since 1988. He will run for the Serbian member of BiH tripartite presidency, which represents the three major ethnic groups of Bosniaks, Serbs and Croats.

BiH will hold general elections on Oct. 7, 2018, the Central Election Commission announced earlier in May.
