samsungIn the second quarter of 2015, the GFK market research and public opinion agency conducted a survey of public opinion on a nationally representative sample of 1,000 participants, aged over 15, on the topic of ownership and use of smartphones.

Results of this research showed that 39.5% of B&H citizens over 15 years old do own a smartphone, which represent an increase of 24 % in comparison with the data obtained in a similar survey that was conducted in late 2011.

The highest percentage of smartphone users is among the population aged between 15-24 years, which says that 78.9 % of this population owns a smartphone. As expected, the lowest percentage of smartphone owners and users is the elderly part of the population (65+) and amounts to 6.9 %.

Somewhere over 42 % of all smartphone devices that are currently used in B&H belong to the manufacturer Samsung, which makes them the most popular brand on our smartphone market. After Samsung, there are LG, Sony (Xperia), and Huawei with 11 %, while the main global rival of Samsung smartphones, Apple’s iPhone, is on the 7th place with only 4.2 % of market share among B&H citizens that are older than 15 years.
