What is the Tourism Potential of Brcko District?

The Director of the Tourism Organization of Brcko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Ivana Damjanovic, stated that the prerequisite for the development of tourism in Brcko is the formation of a personnel structure within the tourism organization to further implement plans in this area.

“The Assembly of the District has given us consent to amend and supplement the financial plan, so we will very soon announce a public competition where the Tourism Organization will have two sectors. On one side, we will have a sector for general, legal, and financial-administrative affairs, and on the other side, a sector for tourism development and promotion, responsible for promoting tourist products, organizing events, preparing for fairs, etc. Expertise will be represented in both sectors, all with the aim of better responding to demands and expectations, and much is expected from the Tourism Organization,” said Damjanovic.

She added that the adoption of the recently presented Tourism Development Strategy for Brcko District is expected by the end of September, which would then lead to greater utilization of the district’s tourism potential.

“We are also preparing activities related to World Tourism Day, conferences, and cooperation with other tourism organizations. Additionally, we must focus on improving partnerships and coordinating all actors in the tourism sector,” Damjanovic noted.

Speaking about the potential that Brcko District has in terms of tourist offerings, she said that Brcko has a favorable tourist-geographical position, beautiful nature, and rich cultural-historical heritage, all of which together give this city good potential to become an attractive tourist destination.

“As for the potentials, the Sava River and Mount Majevica are indispensable; nautical activities on the Sava River, hiking, quad biking, rich gastronomic offerings, wine tasting, bowling, excursion destinations, architecture, culture, and the traditions of our villages. It is necessary to connect all this well, market it through good campaigns, and raise awareness of what we actually have,” said Damjanovic.

The Tourism Organization has planned that one way to enhance tourism will be through planning and organizing tourist tours, whether half-day, full-day, or three-day tours, depending on the desires.

In the end, she emphasized that short but frequent events are suitable and excellent for enhancing the offer. Conferences and fairs are ideal for establishing contacts, exchanging experiences, and attracting attention to the city, Forbes writes.
