What will EBRD finance in Canton Sarajevo?

The Prime Minister of CS Adem Zolj and Minister of Transport Mujo Fiso, signed letters of intent regarding projects for the construction of road infrastructure and the purchase of new trams and trolleybuses with the Deputy Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Lin O’Grady.

These are the sections of Transversal I and IX and reconstruction of double tram rail on the route Ilidza – Marijin Dvor. The official signing was attended by the Minister of Physical Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection of CS, Cedomir Lukic.

The projects should be realized by the Ministry of Transport and the Directorate for Roads.

As noted after the official signing, the EBRD confirmed that they are ready to take into consideration to participate in projects if results of negotiations and project assessment are satisfactory.

It was also stated that the first part of funds in the total amount of 400,000 EUR will be used for the construction of road infrastructure on sections of Transversal I and IX before the signing of financing the project preparation, including the draft for movement (50,000 EUR), technical, economic and environmental detailed analysis (250,000 EUR) and the support for early procurement process (100,000 EUR).

The second part of the funds in the total amount of 960,000 EUR will be used after signing for preparation of a sustainable mobility plan of city transportation (400,000 EUR), the preparation of a dynamic system for traffic management (500,000 EUR) and obtaining an international certificate for procurement for the future road company (60,000 EUR).

The bank will try to mobilize non-refundable donor funds for technical assistance in the amount of up to 750,000 EUR for the reconstruction of the double tram rails on the route Ilidza – Marijin Dvor, at the request of Canton Sarajevo.
