Improvement of the water supply network in Sarajevo is one of the projects for which the Investment Fund for the Western Balkans allocated 2.5 million euros in non-reimbursable, or grant, funds. However, the citizens of Sarajevo cannot expect the start of these works so soon.

As explained by the Cantonal Public Utility Company “Vodovod i Kanalizacija Sarajevo”, the funds are planned for the realization of priority reconstructions of the water supply network in the Canton Sarajevo (CS) in the settlement of Moscanica – Faletici, pipeline rings around the stadium “Kosevo” and the hall “Zetra”, the pressure pipeline of the pumping station “Centar ” to the “Bjelave” reservoir. In addition, in the streets Reis Fehim Spaho, Nahorevska, Humska, Ivanjska, Krivajska, Trebevicka.

The Cantonal Public Utility Company Vodovod i Kanalizacija Sarajevo stated that these are priority locations due to a large number of breakdowns, frequent repairs, and leaks, detected problems in the functioning of the water supply network, caused by old pipelines, dilapidated connections, problems with pressure in the network, etc.

Speaking about the start date of the works and possible obstacles, the public company claimed that grants have their own procedure that they must go through before they become operational.

“These are signatures through decision-making levels, and that takes time. In the application itself, it was said that these funds will be realized with the III Tranche of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) loan of five million euros. The project documentation is in the preparation stage, after its completion, it will be followed by the obtaining of construction permits and the preparation of tender documentation for the selection of the contractor for the aforementioned works,” they added.

Since these funds will most likely be implemented through the EBRD, the preparation of the tender procedure will be done in accordance with the procedures and rules of the EBRD. In this way, the most favorable contractor who meets all the conditions set in the tender documentation will be selected, Klix.ba reports.
