The Municipality Novi Grad will be the first municipality in B&H which will, at the end of June, have a cycling trail built by European standards.
With its construction, in the length of over four kilometers, a one-way bicycle traffic on both sides of the main road will be established, in the direction of conducting of the motor traffic. The construction is funded by the City of Sarajevo and the Roads Directorate of the Sarajevo Canton.
At the section from the former retirement home to the pedestrian bridge at Vistafon, te workers of the Cantonal Public Utility Company (KJKP) ”Rad” have completed the construction works, the construction of the trail, made a partial coloring of he substrate, the labeling of the horizontal signalization is in progress, which is soon to be followed by the installation of vertical traffic signalization, it was announced from the Press Service of the City of Sarajevo.
The Municipality Novi Grad in cooperation with the Roads Directorate of the Sarajevo Canton has along with the newly built cycling trail restored the damaged section of the walking trail, which was in very poor condition, and as stated, the municipality is planning to set new benches along the walking trail and plant a hedge along the cycling trail, as well as to build a resting area at the Olympic pool Otoka, where the wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) services will be provided.
“The workers of ”Rad” will soon terminate the land works on future cycling path from the pedestrian bridge at Vistafon towards Otoka, along which a new footpath is to be built”, the statement said.
In parallel, the Municipality Novi Grad also conducted interviews with the design engineers and arranged the concept of a future cycling trail from Nedžarići to Dobrinja. After that, the drafting will begin of the preliminary and detailed design of the construction of the cycling trail on this stretch, and its connection to the “city” bicycle path in Nedžarići.
The main project envisages that the second stage goes from the bridge on Otoka along the main road to the beginning and through Wilson’s promenade, in the area of the Municipality Novo Sarajevo.
