When will the increased Disability Allowances be paid?

The FBiH  Minister of Labor and Social Policy Vesko Drljača confirmed to FENA that as of April 1, the rights (disability allowance, care and assistance of others and orthopedic allowance) for the population of persons with non-war disabilities will be significantly increased in the Federation of BiH.

This will be made possible by the beginning of the application of the Law on Amendments to the Law on the Basics of Social Protection, Civil War Victims and Protection of Families with Children in the FBiH, which will enter into force on March 16, the eighth day after its publication in the Official Gazette of the FBiH.

According to Minister Drljača, this will mean that the first payment of disability benefits will be made according to the new calculation in mid-May.

“Namely, the basis for calculating the amount of these rights will be 80 percent of the lowest price of work, which currently amounts to 476.80 BAM. This is an increase in the base of about 70 percent compared to the previously fixed base of 274.40 BAM. The new basis will be applied to all three rights in accordance with the law,” said Drljača.

He added that an additional 122,000,000 BAM will be needed to cover the rights according to the new calculation on an annual basis. Given that the budget for this year has already been adopted in the amount of 160,000,000 BAM for these purposes, it will be necessary to secure an additional 72,000,000 BAM by the end of the year.

“The missing funds should be secured by rebalancing the FBiH budget for the current year,” explained Drljača, Fena reports.
