When will the Judge of BiH Constitutional Court be chosen?

The working group for electing the judges of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina established at a meeting today that the new convocation of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will elect a judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

There is currently one vacancy in the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina among the members elected from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e. from the quota of FBiH judges, and the reason for that is the retirement of judge Mato Tadić.

“It was agreed that the activities with the registered judges, the interviews and formation of the list, and the appointment will be done by the new convocation of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament,” said Samer Rešidat, a member of the Working Group.

He says that the new convocation must conduct interviews with the candidates who applied for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“The new convocation cannot annul the competition. There were suggestions to do interviews and to make lists. I was against it because I think that in that case, we would enable a new convocation to cancel the competition, that is, to return everything to the beginning. In that case, we would not have a judge of the Constitutional Court for another four to five months,” he said.

He believes that the new convocation can conduct interviews in four days and choose one candidate, whom he will propose.

Boris Barun, Danica Šain, Sanela Butigan-Gorušanović, Ivo Rozić, Zvonko Mijan, Ivan Miličević, Marin Vukoja, Monika Mijić, Zdravko Lučić, Bariša Čolak, Mario Širić, Željka Marković Sekulić, Mirko Miličević and Mile Lasić applied for the position of judge of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Federation of BiH.
