At the proposal of the BiH Agency for Statistics, the BiH Council of Ministers passed a Decision on the formation of an Interdepartmental Working Group for the preparation of the Action Plan for the preparation, implementation and dissemination of the results of the agricultural census in Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2023-2026.
Information on the need to prepare, implement and disseminate the results of the census of agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina 2023 – 2026 was previously adopted.
In this way, after years of stagnation, activities were initiated in the direction of fulfilling the priorities from the European Partnership Agreement, which emphasizes that BiH must strengthen the collection and processing of agricultural statistical data in accordance with EU standards and methodologies, it was announced after the session of the BiH Council of Ministers.
The decision on the formation of the Interdepartmental Working Group for the preparation of the Action Plan for the preparation, implementation and dissemination of the census of agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2023-2026, in which all relevant institutions in BiH participate, define the main activities, the bearers of their implementation and the deadlines for all stages in the process of preparation, implementation and dissemination of the results of the agricultural census.
The Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina is responsible for submitting the agreed Action Plan for the preparation, implementation and dissemination of the results of the census of agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2023-2026 period to the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina for adoption.
The last census of agriculture in the Socialist Republic of BiH was conducted in 1960, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is currently the only country in Europe that does not have basic structural data on agricultural holdings, that is, it has not conducted a comprehensive agricultural census.
