Members of the Presidency of BiH, chairmen and ministers in the Council of Ministers, chairmen and deputies of the Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the president of the Court of BiH, and the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH are only some of the VIP persons who are followed by security in BiH 24 hours a day, as announced by the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH.

“In accordance with regulations, the Directorate secures other VIP persons in accordance with the conclusions of the Council of Ministers of BiH and the assessment of their vulnerability. The Directorate also secures state facilities, diplomatic and consular missions in BiH as well as foreign delegations that are paying visits to our country,” as noted from this directorate.

From the Directorate did not want to specify the costs and they stated that “the funding for securing VIP persons and facilities is within the approved budget”.

According to this year’s planned costs, it was established that the salaries and other benefits for employees in this directorate will be increased. In the year of 2017, a total of 20.2 million BAM was spent for this purpose, while for 2018 is planned a total amount of 21.9 million BAM.

Additional 4.4 million was planned for compensation of staff costs this year. A total of 400,000 BAM was planned for fuel and transport services.

From the Directorate also explained what VIP security for BH officials actually means.

“The Directorate engages all staff and material resources in securing VIP persons and objects. Securing VIP persons is conducted through direct physical security – close protection, immediate physical security in the movement, as well as physical and technical security at the place of work and residence,” as noted from the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH.
