Who is Djuro Knežević, a new Director of SIPA?

2Yesterday after the session and prepared documentation and voting, the Independent Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H unanimously decided to fire the former Director of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Goran Zubac.

According to the Law on State Investigation and Protection Agency, Deputy Director Djuro Knežević will fulfill duties and responsibilities of director until the appointment of a new director, and the procedure of appointing the new director will be completed within 60 days.

Djuro Knežević was on the function of a Deputy Director of SIPA since 2014, and seven years before he was Commander of General Police Unit in Brčko District Police. In 2007, he worked as Assistant Commander of Investigation Unit of Brčko Border Police within the Border Police of B&H.

From the year 2006 to 2007 he worked as the Inspector for Criminal Intelligence in Orašje Border Police Unit within State Border Service, and five years before that he was the Assistant Chief of Bijeljina Northeast Field Office within State Border Service. In the postwar period, Knežević was the Chief of Uniformed Police Sector within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Posavina Canton.

In 2001, he graduated from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences of the University of Zagreb.
