anniversary2Organized by the Association of Prison Camp Detainees of B&H, the Regional Alliance of Banja Luka and the Association of Camp Inmates of Sanski Most, the 23rd anniversary of the crimes committed at Hrastova glavica, on the territory of the Municipality of Sanski Most (village Podvidača), where 124 detainees were executed, was marked.

Natural pit in Hrastova glavica is a place of liquidation as well as the mass grave for 124 detainees who were brutally murdered. Before they got murdered, they survived the scariest moments of their lives in the Prijedor camps of death Keraterm and Omarska, and who were thrown into the more than 20 meters deep pit right after the liquidation.

“Detainees were transported by trucks from Prijedor camps Keraterm and Omarska. They were tied by wires and brought to the hole on the pit after which they were shot and thrown into the pit. After shooting, the criminals threw bombs into the pit to kill all of those who were still showed the signs of life,” said the President of the Association of Prison Camp Detainees of B&H, Jasmin Mešković.

He added that one of the detainees, Ibrahim Ferhatović, managed to free himself from the criminals after the shooting and escape into the woods.

“Ferhatović managed to pass the information on what happened on Hrastova glavica and how many people were killed. However, he was arrested near Sanski Most and killed in the action of the army and police of the Republic of Srpska. Since then, every track of him was lost,” said Mešković.

Exhumation of the pit Hrastova glavica was carried out in 1998. On this site, during the exhumation of the remains of killed detainees, two skeletal remains who belonged to citizens of Sanski Most were found, and who were killed during the World War II.

During the marking ceremony of the anniversary of crimes against detainees on the site of Hrastova glavica, a roll call was done in a symbolic way: 124 people lined up holding the names of killed detainees.
