Google announced the names of finalists from all around the world who will compete for the grand prize of the prestigious competition Science Fair 2015, which is aimed to find smart young minds who wish to change the world.
The competition is supported by LEGO Education, National Geographic, Scientific American and Virgin Galactic.
Thousands of young people signed up and only 20 of them were selected for the grand finale. B&H has its own two representatives that fought for their place in the finals along with the competitors from the US, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, France, India, Lithuania and Russia.
They are 18-year-old Anela Arifi and 17 year old Ilda Ismaili, who were dealing with the problems of production of biodiesel. They were working on this project for two years.
“Our project is based on a system of two reactors for the production of hydrogen materials for storage and biodiesel made out of chicken feathers. When tested, carbonized chicken feathers showed very good characteristics for the storage of hydrogen and biodiesel has shown very good quality. If it would be used, we would have much cleaner environment, better quality of fuel and much healthier future,” said these two lovely Bosnian girls who are attending the International High School in Tuzla (Bosna Sema Institutions).
All projects submitted to the Science Fair 2015 are aimed to solve the challenges in the world. Some of them are related to the water, while others are looking for a solution for Ebola disease.
The finalists will present their projects on the 21st of September in Google’s Mountain View campus, in front of the scientists.
The winner will receive a prize of 50,000 USD of scholarship, and many other awards provided by partners.
