Another 56 male and female cadets of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton officially completed basic police training today and are ready to start a new, responsible chapter in the professional life of future police officers. As pointed out by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Admir Katica, another 130 candidates are ready for training, and soon a competition for 220 new police officers will be announced. This is the result of increased recruitment of new police officers in Sarajevo Canton initiated by comprehensive reforms.
Today at the FMUP Police Academy, a ceremonial promotion of the 56th class of the Police Academy of the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs was held, which, in addition to the cadets of the KS MUP, also includes cadets from the Central Bosnia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Una-Sana cantons, a total of 118 of them.
The best cadet of this class, who achieved the best results during basic police training and was awarded a gold badge, is cadet of the MUP of the Sarajevo Canton, Eldar Popara.
“We came to the academy from different backgrounds, with different experiences and life paths and with the same goal – to become police officers, ready to perform police work honorably and professionally. From today we may serve in different environments and perform different tasks, but we remain the 56th generation and as we were taught at the Academy, strength is not only in the individual but in a team that should work as one,” said the best cadet Eldar Popara in his speech.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton welcomed the cadets, reminding them that they are here today solely because of their knowledge, expertise and their own qualities, and that is why they should wear the police uniform bravely, proudly and honorably.
“The hiring of new police officers is part of the strategic policy in the Sarajevo Canton, which was initiated by the Security Commission headed by Chairman Elvedin Okerić. The Commission was the initiator of a comprehensive reform that enabled the return of the profession to the police system, improvement of the rights of police officers, strengthening of supervision and control mechanisms, more transparent recruitment and promotion.” Minister Katica reminded that by the end of this year, the MUP of Sarajevo Canton will announce a competition for another 220 police officers, which will bring the number of new, young and professional police officers in the Sarajevo Canton Police to almost 1,000.
He congratulated Police Commissioner Fatmir Hajdarević on strengthening the police force with new personnel, as well as everything he is doing to strengthen the security of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton.
Federal Minister of Internal Affairs Ramo Isak congratulated the cadets and highlighted the results achieved by the Police Academy, stressing that they are doing everything that is in the interest of the security of FBiH and BiH.
“I congratulate my co-workers who, together with me, made it possible for the Police Academy, which once managed to organize training for 200-270 cadets per year, to grow into an academy that now trains between 1,200 and 1,600 police cadets annually. This is a great success, on which I congratulate all employees of the Police Academy and our external collaborators who help us with this. The Police Academy continues to expand, modernize and stronger,” said Minister Isak.
