Investigators of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton (MUP TK), within the framework of activities to suppress the illegal exploitation of mineral raw materials and the black market, conducted searches at five locations in the area of Kalesija and Banovići, it was confirmed by the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton.
The searches were carried out on September 12, according to the orders of the competent municipal courts, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of the Tuzla Canton, with the assistance of police officers from the Kalesija Police Department and the Banovići Police Department, as well as the Special Support Police Unit of the Police Department of the MUP of TK.
Cooperation with the Federal Administration for Inspection Affairs and the Service for Geodetic and Property Legal Affairs of the Municipality of Kalesija was also achieved in the action.
During the search, items were found that are linked to the crime of aggravated theft from Article 287 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as other crimes.
The police temporarily seized 16 working machines, including heavy-duty motor vehicles and excavators used for coal mining, as well as tools and equipment intended for manual coal mining.
Also taken were 11 different tools, raw brown coal/lignite found at the mining site and in means of transport, mobile phones with SIM cards, and money in the amount of 115,900 BAM in different currencies and denominations.
The money is suspected of originating from the illegal sale of mineral raw materials.
During the operation, a pistol with ammunition, a gas pistol and a passenger motor vehicle were also found.
All temporarily confiscated items have been stored and secured, and will be used as evidence in further proceedings.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, TK, states that the suspects S.T. (1975), A.M. (1977), A.R. (1987), M.K. (1960) and E.G. (1970), under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton, in the regular procedure, reports on the committed criminal offense should be submitted, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the said criminal offences.
Investigators of the Police Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the TK, Criminal Police Sector, will continue under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office of Tuzla Canton activities to prevent and suppress illegal exploitation and trade in mineral resources.
