Who is responsible for Security Failures at the Tournament in Sarajevo?

Three days after the incident at the children’s youth-football tournament in Ilidza, where one person was stabbed, analyzes are made and the entire event is interpreted.

After the outburst of nationalism and after the physical confrontation, the police reacted quickly and arrested as many as ten people who are awaiting prosecution.

Immediately after the incident, Mayor Benjamina Karic, some ministers from the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Government, including Police Minister Admir Katica, arrived in Ilidza. With their appearance, all of them sent messages that this is not Sarajevo and that Sarajevo is an open city.

And if we leave aside all the official messages, the question remains who is responsible for security failures? How is it possible that a dozen hooligans could even get a chance to make an incident.

Minister Admir Katica praised the reaction of the police after the incident, but the question remains as to who and on what basis judged that constant police presence is not necessary at the aforementioned tournament.

Katica told that the gathering, that is, the tournament, had been registered.

“As far as I know, the gathering was reported to the police, and it was treated as such. It should be investigated whether it was an adequate security assessment and whether it was adequately responded to. Yesterday, the commissioner formed the so-called internal inspection, that is, the control that will check allpossible facts. I’m sure the analysis will provide a basis to do much better in the future, today I will receive written information from the commissioner with all the relevant facts. I’m sure future security assessments and police actions at such events should be adjusted. I heard that in this case there was no fixed security from the police, but from the organizers and the protection agency,” said Katica yesterday.

And considering that hundreds of children from the region participated in the tournament, how is it possible that the police estimated that constant presence was not necessary. And given the above-mentioned, it is obvious that this is also a big failure of individuals from the police structures, so the relevant minister should also deal with that, Klix.ba reports.
