To this day, it has not been clarified in detail why McDonald’s withdrew from Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), although there was a lot of different information which appeared in the public.
Half a year after the departure of that global fast-food chain from BiH, the Cantonal Court rejected McDonald’s appeal against the decision on a temporary measure, which was annulled, and the request for an insurance measure was rejected.
At the end of last year, McDonald’s closed all facilities in BiH. This happened after McDonald’s filed a request for an insurance measure against the local franchiser of the company Gliese 581g in the Municipal Court in Sarajevo. The request for an insurance measure was submitted under the justification of preventing damage from possible illegal actions, due to the protection of reputation and other activities. The court accepted McDonald’s request and the facilities were closed because that global brand no longer wanted to do business in BiH.
However, in March of this year, the same court annulled the decision on the insurance measure, after which McDonald’s filed an appeal. In June, the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo confirmed the previous decision of the Municipal Court from March and rejected McDonald’s appeal. The appeal was assessed as unfounded.
So this is a paradoxical situation where the decision on the insurance measure, on the basis of which, among other things, McDonald’s closed its facilities in BiH, has been annulled, Klix.ba reports.
