Winter season yesterday officially started on the northern hemisphere of the Earth.
The winter season will last until the 21st of March, when starts the spring season. Due to the angle at which the sun’s rays fall, this part of the Earth is slowly heated and thus nature is “sleepy”.
Winter is characterized by the low temperatures and snow and ice, but because of climate changes, there are often lacks of snow and unusually high temperatures.
Low temperatures started in BiH last month, and on the 3rd of November fell the first snow.
However, meteorologists predict that New Year’s holidays will be snowy and this winter are expected lower temperatures, but not heavy rainfall.
In the beginning of the winter introduced us solstice, which is regularly celebrated at Stonehenge.
The winter solstice is a very significant event in cultures around the world and it is celebrated with the help of typical old astronomical devices made of stone or wood that are placed to come in perfect harmony with the rising sun on the first day of winter.
