winter2 (1)This year, in the Northern Hemisphere of the Earth and in B&H as well, winter came on Tuesday, the 22nd of December, at 5:48 a.m.

Astronomers are calling it the day of the winter solstice, when the sun descends to the lowest point below the celestial equator and on this date the night is longest and the day is shortest.

As Muhamed Muminovic from the Astronomical Society Orion told, winter will last for 88 days and will end on the 20th of March 2016 when the spring is coming.

On the first day of winter, sun will be located in the Sagittarius constellation.

On the horizon of Sarajevo, the sun will spend 8 hours and 54 minutes on solstice day.
