The Minister of Civil Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Adil Osmanović, organized a meeting today regarding a project for the construction of an ice hall in the municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo.
The Municipality provided the real estate needed for the hall’s construction using the former army barracks, Safet Halilović Zajko. Upon the hall’s completion, it will allow ice sports enthusiasts to take part in figure and speed skating activities, ice hockey games, and curling games all-year-round. Equipment for the ice hall (ice fencing, a vehicle for the handling and maintenance of ice, as well as a cold storage container for ice) is provided from donations made by the IIHF – International Ice Hockey Federation.
“Sarajevo is an Olympic city, and as such, deserves to have the conditions and infrastructure for all kinds of sports. I am very pleased that we have gathered all of the relevant authorities in this case, so that we can realize this project. There is not enough money allocated towards sports. Therefore, I hope that with joint resources and united forces, we will continue to realize this – and similar projects – throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina in the future “, said Minister Osmanović after the meeting.
