Without Agreement on Laws at the Meeting of Coalition Partners

At the meeting of SNSD president Milorad Dodik, HDZ BiH Dragan Čović, and the leaders of the “troika” parties – SDP Nermin Nikšić, People and Justice Elmedin Konaković and Our Party Edin Forto in Mostar, no agreement was reached when it comes to the three law key to the opening of BiH accession negotiations with the European Union – on elections, conflicts of interest and the courts of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović said at the press conference after the meeting that the expected breakthrough was not made when it comes to these three laws, but that it is to be expected that something can be agreed upon in the next few days.

He said that the working groups will continue their work and, if they agree somewhere, that it will go further in the procedure.

SNSD President Milorad Dodik said after the meetings that BiH expects the EU to set the date of accession negotiations for BiH because a lot has been done so far.

Dodik stated that the problem of Frontex, prevention of funding of terrorist organizations and money laundering has been solved.

He said that the leaders of the parties will try to do as much as possible so that by March 21 BiH meets the conditions and gets a chance to start negotiations.

“Without a date, it doesn’t mean anything, we would feel that we have been overtaken,” emphasized Dodik.

The Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest is the closest to the agreement of the parties that make up the government at the BiH level, said the president of the SDP of BiH, Nermin Nikšić, after the meeting.

“We are not happy, because there was earlier and better news. We are aware of that, but we continue on. Every next compromise is welcome. If we do not agree, it does not mean that we are arguing, but we are looking for a solution,” said Nikšić, BHRT writes.
