Dajana Buzuk from Sarajevo is the owner of a restaurant on Hvar and decided to lower the price of coffee to one euro with the wish that everyone “can go for a coffee without thinking about whether they can afford it”.
On Croatian television, a report was published about Dajana Buzuk, who is the owner of a restaurant on Hvar, one of the most expensive Croatian islands, and who decided to lower the price of coffee to one euro.
“I decided that when the situation is as it is, to offer at least one safe thing. Something that is very important in our society, i.e. that a person can go for a coffee without thinking about whether he can afford it,” said Dajana.
Talking about whether such a move is worth it, she said that it is all a matter of perspective, but when it comes to finances, “absolutely not”.
“The cost of single espresso is 30 cents, which means a double espresso is 60, and when you add sugar, milk, electricity, water, and labor, you could say that we are actually at a loss – however, I don’t see it that way,” she explained.
She stated that it is still worth it because everyone is in the same situation “without coffee, without pleasure, without friends or a much-needed break”.
“I’m a child from Sarajevo, and there’s that old song by the band Zabranjeno Pusenje ‘Fildzan viska’ (A Cup to Spare) – that one-euro coffee is my version of that cup,” she concluded, Klix.ba reports.
