Women from Sanski Most distributed over 5,000 Protective Masks Free of Charge

Members of nine women-gathering associations in Sanski Most have sewed and distributed over 5,000 protective masks to residents. As they point out, they were prompted by the lack of masks on the domestic market, but also by the knowledge that many residents were unable to buy them, Avaz news portal reports.

“When we came up with this idea, all our associations wholeheartedly supported it. We got organized, got the necessary supplies and started sewing masks. We were also helped by representatives of local institutions and donors,” says Azra Jakupovic, one of the organizers of the action.

She states that they distributed their first masks in collaboration with representatives of the Civil Protection and humanitarian organizations to health care workers, police officers, traders, utilities and all those who are in direct contact with citizens.

“These are cotton masks that can be washed and reused. They are free of charge and our work is based on volunteerism, and we are ready to respond to additional needs for protective masks if this crisis situation persists,”the members of this association say. They point out that several humanitarian actions have been organized in the past to help socially disadvantaged citizens.
