Work on Corridor Vc Slowed Down: FBiH Government Extends Toll Suspension

The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina adopted a decision to extend the temporary suspension of toll collection on the Poprikuše–Nemila and Nemila–Vranduk subsections of Corridor Vc. The FBiH Government introduced this measure with the aim of easing traffic on the M-17 main road during intensive construction works. The decision on the suspension of toll payments will remain in effect until the end of next year.

Continuation of Free Traffic in the North

The public company Motorways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will implement this measure on the ground in accordance with the guidelines of the line ministry. According to the new regulation, toll collection on the mentioned routes will remain suspended until December 31, 2026. These subsections were opened to traffic at the end of 2025 in order to reduce congestion in the Zenica region. The Poprikuše–Nemila subsection, with a total length of 5.5 kilometers, was released to traffic at full capacity, while construction workers only partially opened the Nemila–Vranduk subsection.

The Poprikuše–Nemila section also features the Bosna Tunnel, which, at 3.6 kilometers in length, currently represents the longest constructed underground facility on the entire Corridor Vc. Both subsections are located on the key Zenica–Doboj route. In this part of the alignment, construction companies are still carrying out works to connect the remaining segments of the motorway.

Financial Blockade by European Banks

Construction workers have abandoned part of the construction sites on this route due to unexpected administrative obstacles. On the Medakovo–Ozimice section, operational activities have been temporarily halted. The European Investment Bank suspended financing for the project, forcing competent services to revise the existing contracts with the contractors.

The Management Board of the company Motorways of FBiH is trying to find alternative funding sources to prevent a long-term standstill on Corridor Vc. The Ministry of Transport and Communications has requested an urgent report on the causes of the international creditors’ decision. Financial obstructions could slow down the planned completion of works on the northern branch of the motorway, Klix.ba reports.
