The protests of the workers of the company “Zrak” started yesterday morning in Sarajevo, demanding a renewed and quick reaction from the authorities.
The president of the “Zrak” trade union, Emir Kominlija, claims that the workers were previously sent resignation papers to their addresses.
“We will not leave this company, regardless of the fact that we are no longer employees. The government has shown interest in our demands, but they need to act as soon as possible in order to bring this to an end,” Kominlija told.
On the banners of the workers, there were separate messages for saving the company and messages that they do not want to go bankrupt.
To recall, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) at a recent session accepted information from the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry regarding the request of the Union of Metalworkers of the FBiHfor the immediate involvement of the Government following the appeal against the decision of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo dated April 14th, 2023 on the opening of bankruptcy proceedings over property of the company “Zrak” d.d. Sarajevo.
The government supported the activities of the legal representative of that company in connection with the appeal filed against the aforementioned decision of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo dated April 14th, 2023 on the opening of bankruptcy proceedings before the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for annulment of the decision on the opening of bankruptcy proceedings over the assets of “Zrak”.
Among other things, it was explained in the information of the relevant ministry, that in the financial consolidation process of this company, the Government secured seven million BAM for its recapitalization, with the intention of concluding an agreement with the workers on settlement of obligations and channeling part of the funds for production costs.
The Government of the FBiH has an interest in canceling the aforementioned decision and opening pre-bankruptcy proceedings in order to regulate the legal position of the company and its relationship with creditors with the aim of continuing the production process, as stated earlier by the Federal Government.
