The richest 500 people in the world increased their total wealth by a record 336 billion dollars in one day, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Musk further increased the advantage
Elon Musk further cemented his position as the richest man in the world, with an increase in wealth of more than 10 percent. Most of the growth is related to the company SpaceX, whose value rose sharply after its debut on the public market.
SpaceX recorded a strong growth in market value, which attracted a large number of investors and significantly influenced the overall jump in Musk’s assets, which increased his wealth by $164 billion in one day.
Growth of global markets
Financial markets rose after optimism sparked by an interim agreement between the US and Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, easing concerns over global energy and trade. Indices such as Dow Jones, Nasdaq and MSCI World recorded record or close to record levels.
The data also shows a widening gap among billionaires: the top 50 own almost as much as the remaining 450 combined. Getting on the list is becoming increasingly difficult, as even the last person on it now has a fortune of $7.9 billion.
