More than 200 young people danced in Mostar at the dance revolution called ‘One Billion Rising’, which was held again this year two raise awareness and fight against all forms of violence against girls and women.

This year, the campaign is being carried out under the slogan “Rise for freedom!”, and the organizers said that the best way of expression is movement, i.e. dance, freedom of movement and artistic expression.

In past years, the campaign was symbolically held on February 14 all over the world, but a member of the organizing team from Mostar, Tajma Tiro Demić, said that this year they decided to change the date so that the focus on this topic would not be only on that day.

“Violence against women is a public problem that we want to point out using public space and using dance as a way of expressing the freedom of body and spirit. We stand up for freedom of thought, speech, and choice. We are sending the message that women have the right to choose what they will do in life, how they will behave, how they will dress,” she emphasized.

She said that with this campaign they inspire new generations and together create a culture that fights for freedom, for commitment in the process of stopping violence against women and strengthening awareness about it.

The organizers of the event are the Youth Council of the City of Mostar, the American Corner Mostar, the Herzegovina Branch of Psychologists and the Center for Development and Education “Hera”, Fena reports.
