Civil association “Zelena Rijeka” from Konjic, with support from the Ministry of Environment and Tourism of FBiH, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of FBiH and the Municipality of Konjic, is organizing the first Neretva Media Regatta which is to be held in Konjic on July 3 and 4, 2016.
Aim of the Neretva Media Regatta is the preservation of natural beauties of the Konjic region, promotion of Konjic as a destination, and the use of raised funds for the purposes of restocking of the Neretva River.
Neretva Media Regatta is the answer of the Association to the needs related to the protection of this natural area dn restocking the river with domestic fish species which are almost extinct in the Neretva River. Organization of Neretva Media Regatta will draw the attention of the public to the current situation of the river, activities which take place in this area, and possible improvements in the protection of flora and fauna.
Participants of this competition will be representatives of some thirty media from BiH who will compete in rafting down the Neretva River. Task of the competitors is to complete the task as soon as possible, to descend from Džajića buk to the Old Bridge in Konjic, after which there will be an official lunch and presentation of awards. It is foreseen that every bridge is managed by crew consisting of six members (two representatives from three different media) with a professional skipper who will be in charge of the safe descend and support for competitors.
Association “Zelena Rijeka” Konjic was founded in 2011, with the intention of implementing activities in the field of environmental protection, especially the protection of water bodies in this region. Association is actively working on maintaining natural balance of flora and fauna at the territory of the Neretva River, Boračko Lake, Jablaničko Lake, and mountainous areas of the Konjic Municipality.
