Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH Denis Zvizdić met today in Sarajevo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Péter Szijjártó. They talked about bilateral relations and EU integration of BiH.
Conclusion was drawn that relations between the countries are good and friendly, but that it should still be worked on better traffic connection of the two countries with railway traffic and flights in order to increase the traffic of people and goods, which would stimulate economic cooperation and increase foreign trade exchange.
Chairman Zvizdić said that strategic priorities of BiH are EU integration, economic development and the rule of law. He informed Minister Szijjárto about reform processes in BiH and highlighted that reforms and the EU path of BiH are intertwined processes. Zvizdić expressed expectation that progress in fulfillment of preconditions for accessing NATO will be recognized as well and that the Membership Action Plan will be activated by the end of the year.
Minister Szijjártó validated the support of Hungary for Euro-Atlantic integration of BiH. He said that the EU path and the accession to NATO bring stability and security to BiH, and that means stability and prosperity for the entire region. Support from Hungary is beyond doubt in that regard. Furthermore, Szijjártó added that Hungary is very interested in improving its relations and strengthening relationship with BiH. Thereby, it is being worked on the establishment of direct flight between Sarajevo and Budapest. Szijjártó highlighted that Hungary also plans to open a special credit line intended for support for joint projects and appearances in third markets for companies from BiH and Hungary, as well as that the Government of Hungary provided 50 full scholarships for students from BiH in universities in Hungary.
Chairman Zvizdić thanked for support and pointed out that currently the largest macroeconomic issue in BiH is the youth unemployment, suggesting that this credit line also treats this issue so that young people stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador of Hungary to BiH József Négyesi.
