ugovorContract on execution of works on the construction and reconstruction of the second section of the South Longitudinal was signed by the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Traffic Mujo Fišo and Director of the Directorate for Roads Nermin Drnda with directors Hamed Ramić and Mirsad Bjelopoljak, as representatives of the selected contractors of the Consortium “Euroasfalt” Ltd. Sarajevo and “ŽGP” JSC Sarajevo. Signing of the contract was held at the plateau in front of the Sport Hall Grbavica, where the construction works are to begin soon.

“The previously constructed section of the South Longitudinal has already yielded serious results in terms of unburdening the traffic in Sarajevo. Everyone who went from Baščaršija towards the Airport knows how jammed traffic was on this section and how much we got with the construction of these first sections. Today we will start this section of 900 meters and the project includes around 1.500 meters of new part of this road, thus completing its section that passes the territory of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality,” said Konaković.

According to the Minister Fišo, Ministry of Transportation wants works of the highest quality, they will demand maximum quality of works so that the citizens of the Sarajevo Canton would get another excellent road and to improve the speed of vehicle movement.

“Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton is the implementer of the project of reconstruction of roads in the Sarajevo Canton financed by the EBRD, so we will execute a number of activities in this project,” announced Nermin Drnda, Director of the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton.

According to the Mayor of the Novo Sarajevo Municipality Nedžad Koldžo, this road has much greater significance overall that it has for the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo only.

Funds for implementation of this project in the amount of seven million EUR were provided with a credit from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

“Deadline for completion is one year and the deadline will be respected,” said Enver Ajanović from the Consortium Euroasfalt-ŽGP, consisted of domestic companies.
