The first festival of Banja Luka cevap – “Cevap Fest” was visited on Saturday by more than 10.000 citizens of Banja Luka and tourists from the countries of the region, and at this gastronomic event, 8.500 portions of cevapi were eaten, which was estimated by organizers of the event.

Six cevapi places participated at the “Cevap Fest”, and each of them made about 1.400 portions of cevapi on average, although, due to a huge interest, people waited cevapi for more than an hour.

The City administration states that, according to estimates, this was one of the most visited events held in the largest city of the Republika Srpska (RS) over the past year.

Besides Banja Luka citizens, a great number of tourists from the region, especially from Slovenia and Serbia, have been seen at this gastronomic event.

The Mayor of Banja Luka, Igor Radojicic, announced that the City administration, after such a huge interest, will organize this event every year, with the aim of expanding the boundaries of Banja Luka and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

“Besides the branding and protection of geographic origin of Banja Luka cevap, as a specialty of our city, one of the main reasons for organizing this event is to increase the tourist visitation, which is one of the strategic goals of the current City administration. Big increase in tourist visits at the past gatherings, such as the New Year’s Concerts at the Square, and now this event, show us that we go in the right direction, “ Radojicic said.
