A total of 117 cadets of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BP BiH) were promoted to the rank of police officer on Friday at the Agency for Education and Professional Development (AEPTM) in Mostar.
The overall success of this generation is very good, and according to the decision of the Agency’s Teaching Council, Ahmo Malagić was declared the cadet of the generation.
“The task of all of us is to support these young people who have decided to pursue lifelong education. Their calling is full of challenges, and the first next step after this training is to start working at the BP BiH. After that, we will meet with them again at the Agency because we organize various types of specialist training for them here, both internal and through international experts, where we provide them with the best experts in the specific field in which they need training. I would like to emphasize once again that these young people need all the support of their families, colleagues, mentors and all of us,” said the director of the AEPTM, Marko Vujević.
Assistant director of the BiH Border Police, Slobodan Krstić, said that the selection of candidates for the training of this, the 20th generation of cadets, was extensive and included various types of testing.
“Today, these 117 cadets are completing this part of their education at the agency, and from May 1st they will be full members of the Ministry of Security’s big family. A hard and responsible job awaits them, which gives them a lot in terms of rights, personal income, permanent employment and many other things, but they will have many obligations arising from that,” said Krstić.
He emphasized that the expectations of these cadets are high.
“When we take into account that we are now short of 700 people and that in the next two years we will be short of another 500, that is 1,200 people, so these 117 new policemen are precious to us and will greatly contribute and help the work of the Border Police in the coming period. They are expected to be professionals, to be experts in their work, to be equal to all citizens. They are no longer “ordinary citizens”, but they are expected to be better, more honest and more visible, but also at the service of citizens, their local community and everyone together,” asserted Krstić.
Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Security of BiH Vedran Knezović said that this event represents a great success for all cadets, who in the future will be on the front line of preventing cross-border crime, but also a mirror of Bosnia and Herzegovina for all guests who come to our country.
“This is an important moment for you, but also for the security sector and the Border Police because we are getting 117 police officers who have been educated and trained to take on the important tasks of guarding the border and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I send my sincere congratulations to the management and employees of the Agency with the wish that they will continue their successful work and personnel strengthening of the police forces in the future for the benefit of all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In that process and in all future activities, you will have the full support of the Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Knezović said.
The curriculum of the basic training of cadets of the BiH Border Guard – first level, is aligned with the FRONTEX Common Core Curriculum for the Basic Training of the EU Border and Coast Guard (Common Core Curriculum 2022). It is carried out over a period of eight months (168 working days), during which 1,200 teaching/working hours were held, Fena writes.
