Damir Nikšić: Revolution Makes Sense Only in Regional Boundaries

DAMIR NIKŠIÆ: REVOLUCIJA IMA SMISAO TEK U REGIONALNIM OKVIRIMA, U ITALIJI, ŠPANIJI I GRÈKOJ GORIRevolution in local borders has no sense. It has meaning only in the regional boundaries and every revolution, if it is not a global one, then it is not a revolution, but rather a state coup in one unit’’, said for Fena the conceptual artist Damir Nikšić, commenting on the current protests in Sarajevo and other B&H cities.

Nikšić thinks that through these protests of citizens, a message can be sent to the proletariat in Belgrade, Podgorica, Zagreb and other countries, stressing that this concerns them as well as the working class, because B&H should not be isolated here as the only problem.

‘’I think that they also have a problem. It is visible that they are afraid of this problem in B&H spilling over to their countries. They are not afraid of us, but rather of their workers. Where there is smoke there is fire, where there is fear there is the potential for social unrest. No one can tell me that Italy, Spain and Greece is burning, and everything in this region is fine. Here is where nationalism continues to hold frozen the skulls of people to not start to demand what every normal person demands in Greece, Spain and Italy’’, said Nikšić.

He underlined that if it is not good for the people and the workers, it may not be good for those in the government. The recalls that it has not been good for the workers for several years, because they have not been receiving their salaries for months.

Nikšić did not criticize the burning of the buildings in Sarajevo and other cities in the FB&H at the beginning of the protests. He said this should come as no surprise.

‘’Who lit the building? Children up to 18 years of age who did not take part in the sale of certificates or criminal privatization of the country, and who for 17-18 years have been listening to their parents how they should burn the building, and those children did just that. They have an absolute moral right to burn all of us after 20 years’’, said Nikšić.

He also emphasized that this is not a protest, because for them and the protests an organizer or organizational committee is needed. These are social unrests, he said.
