Multidisciplinary “Think Freedom” Exhibition by Edina Seleskovic Opens at Europe House

The contemporary art installation Think Freedom, by multidisciplinary artist Edina Selesković officially opened yesterday in Europe House. Integrating sculpture, light, and canvas, the project explores the complex nature of peace and liberty in the modern era.

“Support for culture is at the heart of the European Union’s action because it creates a vital space for dialogue, empathy and democratic expression. The EU’s founding objective is a continent unified in peace, stability and prosperity and without the contribution of artists and thinkers this cannot be achieved. In the current moment, where freedom, dialogue, and democracy are being challenged around the world, I would like to thank Edina Selesković for inspiring us with her art to continue fighting for a better future,” said Ferdinand Koenig, Head of Communications and Spokesperson at the EU Office in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the opening of the exhibition, speakers emphasized creative freedom as a cornerstone of any democratic society. The project, which originated in Sarajevo, has travelled to over 20 global cities, including Brussels, the Vatican, and New York. Its return to Sarajevo showcases how art can overcome divisions and generate a global dialogue on the future.

“Think Freedom was born in Sarajevo from a need to use visual art to spark a dialogue on the importance of freedom, asking young people: ‘What does freedom mean to you?’” said artist Edina Selesković. “After ten years of traveling the world, those answers live on through thousands of messages connecting different people and cities. This retrospective at Europe House is an opportunity for Sarajevo to once again host a new space for dialogue on freedom.”

Think Freedom, the latest exhibition in the Europe House Presents series, a format of cooperation between the EU in BiH and contemporary artists, is open for the public from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00 at Europe House, Maršala Tita 62 in Sarajevo until 30 May 2026.
