COM EUFOR, Major General Maurizio Fronda, continued his programme of engagement with local authorities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, meeting the Mayor of Bihać, Mr. Elvedin Sedić, and the Mayor of Cazin, Mr. Nermin Ogrešević.

The meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on the local security environment, current developments and issues affecting communities in the Una-Sana Canton.

Major General Fronda emphasised the importance EUFOR places on direct and regular dialogue with local authorities. Engagement with mayors provides the mission with valuable insight into developments at community level and helps maintain a broad understanding of the environment across Bosnia and Herzegovina. The visits also gave COM EUFOR an opportunity to hear directly from both mayors about the priorities and concerns of their respective communities and to reinforce EUFOR’s commitment to remaining accessible and engaged across the country. Regular interaction with municipal leaders complements the daily work of EUFOR’s Liaison and Observation Teams, which maintain contact with local authorities, institutions and communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Through these engagements, EUFOR continues to strengthen relationships, improve situational awareness and maintain open channels of communication with communities across the country.

EUFOR remains committed to a visible, credible and impartial presence in support of the authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
