Crnadak EUMinister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Igor Crnadak met yesterday with the European Parliament Speaker Antoni Tajanij. On the meeting, which was held in Brussels, the main focuses of the talks were the process of European integration of BiH and the region, the current political situation in BiH and other topics relevant to the relations between BiH and the European Union.

FM Crnadak emphasized that the European future of BiH has the greatest possible consensus both in the Federation of BiH and in the Republika Srpska, as well as in all three constituent peoples.

Furthermore, FM expressed the expectation that the completion of the European Commission Questionnaire is to be completed in the first half of this year and that BiH will get candidate status by the end of 2017.

Crnadak and Tajani agreed that the stability of the Balkan region is of enormous importance for the whole of Europe and that intensive cooperation is needed, particularly in areas such as the fight against terrorism, migration crises and organized crime.

During the talks, President Tajani confirmed the strong support of the European Parliament and other EU institutions on the European path to BiH. Moreover, he said that the EU institutions are particularly interested in the situation in the field of media, freedom of speech and the fight against corruption.

For the end of the meeting, it was agreed that Tajani, upon the invitation of FM, will visit BiH during the summer.
