The President of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Suad Arnautovic, confirmed today that the funds of 12,528,000 BAM for the general elections, scheduled for October 2, are operational and have been in the CEC’s account since yesterday.

At a press conference in Sarajevo, Arnautovic thanked State Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda for the urgent and complete execution of the decision of the High Representative of the International Community in BiH Christian Schmidt, who imposed a decision on securing funds to finance the elections.

He confirmed that the activities on organizing the elections have already started, which could not be started or stopped due to lack of money, and of that, as he said, the most complex are public procurements.

He explained that all public procurements were launched today. Numerous decisions have been made, some of which concern the printing and packaging of materials, the procurement of packaging materials, the provision of advertising services in the daily press, and the postal delivery of election material abroad.

Arnautovic thanked High Representative Schmidt for imposing this decision, while expressing disappointment that the domestic authorities did not do so.

He also said that the procedure of certifying 90 political parties and 17 independent candidates has been completed, and the deadline for certifying coalitions is June 14, while 16,297 people opened an order for entering data for voting through the CEC application, and 7,988 people are in progress.
