esperantoOn the occasion of 125 years since the invention of Esperanto language, experts of Esperanto from Banja Luka met in the City Esperanto Association ‘La Mondo’ and marked 21 May, which is for them a very important date and one of famous Esperanto experts Smail Grbo from Sarajevo held an introductory lecture, reports Fena.

The association ‘La Mondo’ said that they marked the 125th anniversary with a lecture on topic ‘Esperanto- language of friendship’ and Grbo praised the work of ‘La Mondo’ and added that thanks to Esperanto he met many new friends and travelled the world.

Vice-president of ‘La Mondo’ Mićo Vrhovac noted that Grbo wrote many books about the history of Esperanto in general and in Yugoslavia.

Esperanto is the most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language. Its name derives from Doktoro Esperanto (“Esperanto” translates as “one who hopes”), the pseudonym under which L. L. Zamenhof published the first book detailing Esperanto, the Unua Libro, on July 26, 1887. Zamenhof’s goal was to create an easy-to-learn and politically neutral language that transcends nationality and would foster peace and international understanding between people with different regional and/or national languages.
