On October 26th, two Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) police officers were killed during the prevention of car robbery.

At 4 a.m. on Friday in BiH’s capital Sarajevo, during stealing of motor vehicle, thieves fired several times at two policemen, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Canton Sarajevo (MUPKS) confirmed to local media.

Thieves tried to steal white car of Golf 6 brand with Croatian registration plates, after which policemen arrived and the shooting started, after which perpetrators escaped, MUPKS stated.

Suvada Kuldija, a spokesperson for the MUPKS confirmed to local media earlier that one police officer was killed, and another was seriously injured, but after he was transferred to the local hospital, he passed away due to severe head injury.

The further investigation on identification and finding of perpetrators is under way. The police could not provide more detailed information as the investigation is ongoing and does not want to jeopardize the security of the investigation.

In the first six months of 2018, 243 cars were stolen in BiH, out of which, 150 in Canton Sarajevo, mainly of Volkswagen brand.

Later on, a report was filed against Milos Obradov, detained in KPZ Zenica, suspected of having participated with Srecko Trifkovic in the murder of police officers Adis Sehovic and Davor Vujinovic.

The investigation into this case continues, and the perpetrators are not even known 10 months after the killings.
