About 140 cameras have been installed at numerous locations in the Stari Grad (Old Town) municipality to raise the level of security of the population and their property, and all cameras have been linked to the First Stari Grad Police Department, where 24-hour surveillance is carried out.
The Municipality of Stari Grad financed the introduction of video surveillance in all primary and secondary schools in the territory, at seven entrances and exits from the municipality, Avaz news portal reports.
The footage from the cameras is stored on a server located in the premises of the First Police Administration, and is transmitted wirelessly.
The goal of the video surveillance system is to improve the operational work of the police, and it also acts preventively on those who are prone to illegal activities.
