The draft law on amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republika Srpska entity envisages life imprisonment instead of long-term imprisonment, Srna news agency reports.

The explanation of the Draft Amendments to the Criminal Code, which the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska should consider at the upcoming session, state that legal provisions also stipulate that a terrorist, whose act has great destruction or death of one or more persons, will be punished by imprisonment of at least 10 years or life imprisonment.

Terrorism is considered if someone, with the aim of seriously intimidating the citizens or forcing the authorities of the Republika Srpska to do or not do something, or with the aim of seriously disturbing or destroying the basic constitutional, political, economic or social structures of Republika Srpska, commits one of several acts that may cause serious damage to Republika Srpska, reads the explanation of the Draft Amendments to the Criminal Code.

Terrorism also means the release of dangerous substances or causing fires, explosions or floods with the aim of endangering human lives, but also disrupting or stopping the supply of water, electricity or other natural resources. The regular session of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska is scheduled for June 16.
