The High Court in Belgrade sentenced Husein Mujanovic, a former commander of Army of Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to 10 years in prison for war crime, Vijesti.ba news portal reports.

Mujanovic was convicted today after spending two years in custody, arrested in 2018, and charged with war crimes against Serbs who were in the war prison in Hrasnica near Sarajevo.

This information was confirmed for “Avaz” by his wife Mirsada Mujanović.

The prosecutor of the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office requested a 15-year prison sentence two weeks ago, but the Court sentenced him to 10 years.

One of Mujanovic’s lawyers, Dragan Krgovic, told “Avaz” that he would file an appeal as soon as he received a written copy of the verdict.

“The punishment is not legal because some qualifications have not been determined. We hope that this verdict will be revoked after our appeal,” says Kvrgović.

In his closing argument before the High Court in Belgrade, prosecutor Miroljub Vitorović pointed out that all the evidence showed that Husein Mujanović was guilty of abusing Serbs in the war prison in Hrasnica, which he commanded.

But the defense denied all allegations, saying all witness statements had changed in the past 20 years.
