Covic: Everyone must apologize for War Crimes

The visit of member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik to Zagreb is welcomed, as Croatia is strongly committed to giving BiH a European perspective, given the division that strongly dominates due to “attempts to create a unitary and centralist state”, HDZ BiH party leader Dragan Covic tated on Saturday.

Covic pointed out that something diametrically opposite was agreed in Dayton, and that Dodik “warns” about that.

“That is the root of intolerance between political Sarajevo and him. I am sure that talks with Croatian President Zoran Milanovic and Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic can achieve good results so that the voice of the Serb people in BiH can be heard, regardless of who they are,” he said for Vecernji List.

The leader of the HDZ BiH believes that it is necessary to continue the talks with this intensity in order for the society in BiH to organize on the basis of what is defined in Annex four of Dayton – to ensure legitimate representation at all levels, mentioning that he considers Zeljko Komsic a representative of Bosniaks Croats.

He believes that it will soon be necessary to put a discussion on the candidate status of BiH on the table, which will include changes to the Constitution.

“It should be expected that the support of international institutions will be present in that. I am convinced that the position of the three nations cannot be destroyed or touched, it cannot be eliminated from the institutions. Everyone who tries to act in that way should know that they are abolishing BiH,” Covic emphasized.

He stated how everyone must apologize for war crimes. “We all need to offer a hand of reconciliation. As far as I am concerned, today, tomorrow, and any day I am ready, and I am doing so, to clearly point out everything that is called the crime of my compatriots. In the same way, we should all look at every victim and a crime. If we do that, I think we will solve these problems permanently, “Covic said.
