2013 Was Most Successful Year for Tourism in Canton Sarajevo

turisti_sarajevoSince 1997, when official statistics of tourism in Sarajevo Canton began, 2013 was the most successful tourism year with a record number of tourists and overnight stays and a record increase in comparison to last year, announced today the Tourist Board of Canton Sarajevo.

In 2013, 302.570 tourists visited Canton Sarajevo (17,9 percent more than in 2012), with 595.637 overnight stays (18 percent more than in 2012).

In the total number of arrivals, foreign tourists made up 83,8 percent, and local tourists made up 16,2 percent. Most of the arrivals in Canton Sarajevo were tourists from Turkey, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Austria, US and Poland.

In 2013 in Canton Sarajevo, there were 125 registered accommodation facilities (increase by 5,9 percent in comparison to last year). The number of rooms increased by 1,5 percent (3.829), while the number of beds increased by 2 percent (8.384).

Occupancy rates stood at 42,6 percent in terms of the occupancy of the room, or 19,5 percent in terms of bed occupancy.
