12895534_1136637599720528_2126740883_nInstitute for Construction of the Sarajevo Canton is working together with the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton on the analysis of costs for the construction of the First transversal, after which the cantonal Ministry of Transportation will decide which section will be constructed first.

“We are working on two analyses: analysis of costs of construction and the solving of legal and property issues, which should be done in a month. The analyses are being conducted for the sections from the street of Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević to Velešići, then to the roundabout Bare, and from Bare to Hotonj,” said Anka Petrović from the Institute for Construction of the Sarajevo Canton.

According to Petrović, the final calculation will show the exact value of construction by sections, how many facilities for expropriation are there, where the substitute facilities will be built and for which section the credit funds from the World and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will be provided first.

For now, it is known that the substitute residential facilities will be built on Šip, but the exact parcel on which the new buildings will be built is unknown.

The First transversal plays a significant role in the formation of the road network in the Canton. Its construction was planned in the Urban Plan of the City of Sarajevo back in 1985 and it was ranked as the primary city road with the greatest significance in the network of road infrastructure in the wider city area of all other transversals. It will connect the Zagrebačka Street, i.e. the Northern longitudinal, with the future city highway next to the Railway Station and with Vogošća.

From Vogošća, the transversal continues to Hotonj, i.e. it is connected to the main road M-18 all the way to Jošanica – to the crossroad for Tuzla and connection to the highway A1. As the Directorate for Roads of the Sarajevo Canton stated, length of the First transversal is 9.1 kilometer. According to the project, the costs of construction amount to 175 million BAM, while the expropriation of land costs around 60 million BAM.
